"Chickadee and Appleblossoms"
These chickadees are frequent visitors to my bird feeders. The apple blossom studies and sketches are from a local orchard. I then brought all the elements together to create this decorative scene.

"Union Station, Portland, Maine, Remembered" circa 1936
A glowing night scene with businessmen arriving after a long day's work and shoppers returning from Boston. All are greeted to fresh falling snow at Portland's Union Station. Portlanders still fondly remember this landmark which was dismantled in 1963. Some research went into this scene. I used a 1920's Reo for the bus, an early 1930's Ford for the smaller taxi and I turned my Grandmother's 1936 Pontiac into the far left taxi. First in the Portland Series.

"Evening Chores" circa 1950
These barns are part of a long past dairy farm. It's on a road which loops off Route 2 and then back again a few miles along. It's almost as though when travelling this road, one returns to a simpler time when gasoline was 19 cents a gallon and coffee was 5 cents for a cup. I once had the 1950 Chevy pick-up that's in this picture. My daughter named it Reddy Jughead.

"Winter Blue Jays"
I made the studies for this scene from sketches of the resident jays near my feeder. The red highbush cranberries turn a bright red by mid-winter and attract many birds. By late winter when the berries are more tender due to the many thawings and freezing, the birds find a colorful meal waiting to be readily eaten.

"Sailing Casco Bay"
The day is sunny with fast moving clouds. Sailors enjoy Maine's "High Summer" with the Portland Head Light as a back drop. I see many boats from Maine and New England sailing the warm waters of the Caribbean during the fall and winter months. Sixth in the Portland Series.
Signed, numbered, limited edition print of 750.

"Sail at Dawn"
We had anchored the evening before in a small cove on Vinalhaven Island. At dawn the next morning, as the sun touched the horizon, a gaff rigged cutter ghosts out on a slight breeze. A few years ago we, a group of artists and photographers, sailed along coastal Maine spending a good week gathering material for future paintings for the artists and photos for the photographers. I have gotten enough material from that week to paint for a lifetime. A number of those scenes are here in this collection.

"Flower Market at Monument Square"
This is one of the longest, continuous open air markets in New England. Originally a farmers market for the most part, now flowers are the main attraction that bring shoppers and those who just come to enjoy the display. Wednesday is the day to see the market. The studies and sketches I made were accomplished from across busy Congress Street so I could include the original buildings seen behind the market. Don't forget to bring popcorn or peanuts for the pigeons. Fourth in the Portland Series.

I have seen many scenes such as this in the Carribbean as well as here in Maine, in this scene, on North Haven Island. The day is full of sun, wind and spray. Now, as the scene captures, for a quiet anchor to the end of the day.

"Winter Fields"
I was traveling along winding country roads one late winter's afternoon. As the sun was setting off to the right, these barns caught the last rays of the sun. I was able to quickly work up a good sketch with color notes there and bring "Winter Fields" to life later in the studio. The ending to a great day of painting.

"Winter Walk"

It was a late winter afternoon in Portland, I was finishing a sketch of the steps leading down from Monument Square leading in the direction of the Old Port. The monument and clock are in the background. Street lights had just come to life when an elegantly dressed woman descended the stairs. Perfect timing. Seventh in the Portland Series.
